Undulating terrain, tricky obstacles and lush green fairways – golfing in the mountains is a special pleasure. Especially here in Salzburger Land. Because here you can enjoy perfect playing conditions from May to October and have a huge selection of playing options. Not least because the Haven has a home course where you can enjoy all the freedom you need, even without a handicap. And it’s completely free of charge. So come over, hit the balls out and have fun!

Connected to the OPEN Golf St. Johann is the GPS Golf School run by Head Pro Rodney Richards. Here you can choose from a wide range of private and group courses. These include courses to get your license to play within a few days. Training is done with video analysis, the Explanar training device and many other proven techniques. And your kids are introduced to the sport in a playful way with Snag Golf.
You can also become a member of OPEN Golf St. Johann through us at super-affordable conditions. In 2024, an annual membership with playing rights will cost just €385 (as of 2024). This is recognized worldwide without restriction and also includes a personal ÖGV card and your handicap management.
If you want an even wider range of challenges, we recommend the Golf Alpin Card. With this card, you can play the 18 golf courses in the region at favorable conditions. Best of all, they are all within 60 minutes’ drive of Haven Mountain Retreat.
Options of the Golf Alpin Card…
can be purchased directly at reception or at OPEN Golf St. Johann Alpendorf. The card is also valid without restriction at weekends and on public holidays.
Of course, there are also plenty of highlights for golfers beyond our own golf course. In addition to our favorites in the neighborhood, we also recommend the GC Mondsee, where a fairytale setting and bathing jetty await you at the 19th hole. A great reason to pay a visit to the Salzburg Lake District.

The Gastein Golf Club is one of the oldest golf clubs in Austria. The original 9-hole golf course was founded in 1960 and expanded to 18 holes 42 years later. It is perfectly integrated into the beautiful Gastein valley and is definitely worth a detour to the Belle Epoque town of Bad Gastein. But be careful: the course is a bit of a mountain goat. The course also includes a very well-equipped driving range with covered tees and a rustic golf bar at hole 19. Guests are always welcome and dogs are allowed on a lead.

You might think that golf is too boring for little rascals. We’ll be happy to prove you wrong. Children can have a lot of fun and make a quantum leap forward in their body control. They also learn to concentrate and stay calm under pressure. Boomer virtues such as patience and discipline come on top, which are not so bad for life. So: take them for a walk around the course. It doesn’t cost anything. And if they bite: Coach Rodney is ready with child-friendly training.
